Channel 7 -- Live in Your Neighborhood Saves Best for Last at 6:57 am on Friday, May 13
South Shore Drill Team will be closing out Channel 7's Morning News on Friday, May 13. Anchor Terrell Brown is featuring Bronzeville in their "Live in Your Neighborhood" segments throughout the morning show from 4:30-7:00 am. While there are several other groups performing, the station selected South Shore Drill Team to be the last performance at 6:57 am. This is their largest audience because the time frame leading up to Good Morning America has the most viewership. We've asked them to mention that our Spring Show is on Saturday, June 18, and hope they do that!
Recapping Their Role in Ferris Bueller's Day Off -- Sunday, May 22 at a Secret Loop Location to be Announced 4 hours in Advance!
South Shore Drill Team will be appearing in Ferris Fest on Sunday, May 22. The organizers have activities planned for the entire weekend May 20-22 to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off released on June 11, 1986. You're probably too late to purchase the $300 entire weekend package (!) but you can buy the $10 ticket for the Twist and Shout Parade Live Recreation to see South Shore Drill Team's performance -- AND it comes with an added bonus of free admission to a 360 immersion experience to the opening scene of Ferris Bueller's room on display at Virgin Hotel, 203 North Wabash. The exact location of the Twist and Shout Live Recreation will be announced four hours prior to this "spontaneous performance." (We know it will be in the Loop between 3:30 and 4:30 pm, possibly at Federal Plaza on Dearborn by the Calder sculpture.) To purchase the $10 tickets for the Twist and Shout Parade Live Recreation, go to the Ferris Fest website at http://www.ferrisfest.com/ Here's the March 15 announcement (with attached photo) from their website:
March 15 - We're excited to officially announce that Chicago's own South Shore Drill Team will be performing during the 'Twist and Shout' LIVE parade re-creation on Sunday afternoon, May 22 in downtown Chicago during FERRIS FEST! The team was only in its fifth year of existence when they performed for the original parade sequence in FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF 30 years ago. And even though we only saw a portion of their now iconic synchronized moves from the film, the current generation of SSDT will be performing the ENTIRE original full-length routine prepared and rehearsed before the cameras rolled on FERRIS, as well as some additional numbers that we and they know you'll really enjoy! Check out the South Shore Drill Team at their official website.
Spring Show, Saturday, June 18!
And while you're on our official website -- http://www.southshoredrillteam.org -- check out our new updates with more videos, photos, and interactive features. Be sure to purchase your tickets for our Spring Show on Saturday, June 18 with two performances at 3 pm and 7 pm.
Thanks for your continued support of our amazing young people!
